How to Turn Off iPhone 6 Plus Quickly and Easily

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have a lot of cool features. But there are also a few little tricks and tweaks that can help you make the most of your device.

One of the best is a feature Apple calls Reachability that lets you move the entire UI halfway down, so you can easily reach the navigation buttons in the top corners.

1. Power button

If you’re having trouble powering your iPhone 6 plus off, there are a few different things you can do. First, you can try to force restart your phone. This will reset everything on your device, including the screen.

If this doesn’t work, you can use Assistive Touch to power off your iPhone. This feature is especially helpful if you have a broken or nonfunctional power button.

You can also try to turn off your phone with Siri. This is a very simple method that works on all iOS devices. However, it’s important to remember that Siri can’t shut down your iPhone officially.

To turn off your phone with Siri, you need to ensure that you have Listen for “Hey Siri” toggled on. You should also make sure that your iPhone is connected to the internet.

Then, you can go to your Settings app and scroll down until you get to the Accessibility option. From here, you’ll want to look for “Prevent Lock to End Call.”

Once that’s on, the next time you accidentally press your power button during a call, it won’t disconnect it. This is a really useful feature and can save you quite a lot of time in the long run.

Another way to turn off your phone is by dragging the Power Off slider in Settings. Just drag it to the left and then wait about 30 seconds for it to shutdown your device.

2. Sleep/Wake button

The Sleep/Wake button, also known as the power button, can be a problem for some iPhone 6 plus owners. This button can sometimes be hard to press, or even work at all. If your iPhone 6 plus doesn’t work as you expected, here are a few troubleshooting steps to try before you go looking for a replacement:

First of all, clean your Sleep/Wake button and the surrounding area with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. This will help prevent the button from becoming stuck. If the button still won’t work, contact Apple Support for further assistance.

You may need to restart your phone in order to make it work again. You can do this by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and then the Home button for 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo appear.

After that, you can let go of both buttons and your iPhone will be restarted. This process can be done repeatedly until your device comes back to life.

Next, if your iPhone 6 plus can’t be turned on, you can try to “hard reset” it. This will reset the iPhone to its default settings, but it won’t delete any data or info on your phone.

If that doesn’t work, try to update the iOS on your iPhone. If it doesn’t work, you can try to “restore” it via iTunes.

You can also turn off your iPhone 6 plus by sliding the “Slide to power off” slider on the screen. This is a quick way to power off your device, but it doesn’t work if you have a physical home button or Touch ID. If you have an iPhone without either of those, you can instead press and hold down the Side button and the Volume Up button simultaneously until you see the Slide to power off slider on your screen.

3. Volume down button

If the volume buttons on your iPhone 6 plus aren’t working, there may be a hardware problem or a software glitch. Luckily, there are a few quick fixes that can get your volume button back working again.

First, try rebooting your iPhone. This is a tried-and-true solution that can fix many issues. Just hold down the power button and press the home button to restart your phone.

Restarting your phone resets all of your device’s settings. If this doesn’t work, then you might need to call Apple Support or take your device to an Apple store for a diagnosis.

Another alternative is to use the Assistive Touch feature. This allows you to adjust the volume of your device without touching the physical buttons. To turn this on, navigate to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Touch -> Assistive Touch and toggle it on.

Once Assistive Touch is turned on, a virtual button appears on your iPhone’s display that you can tap to adjust the audio output. To increase the volume, simply tap the icon once, and to decrease it, tap it twice.

In addition, you can also adjust the volume on specific apps by using the volume slider located in the Control center. This is a great way to quickly boost or reduce the volume for music, videos, and other media on your iPhone.

If you’re still having trouble with the volume buttons on your iPhone, you can try a third-party tool called Tenorshare ReiBoot Pro. This iOS System Repair tool not only diagnoses and addresses the root causes of your iPhone volume issues, but can also fix 150+ other iOS problems with just a few clicks!

4. Volume up button

If you have an iPhone 6 plus and you’ve noticed that your volume up button is not working, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue. The first thing you can try is to reboot your phone by pressing the power button and home button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. This will restart the iPhone and will also unfreeze any software issues that might be causing your volume up button to stop working.

Another way to fix this issue is by restoring your iPhone to factory settings. This method might be a little risky, so you’ll want to use FoneTool to backup all of your data from your device before you attempt this solution.

It’s important to note that if you restore your iPhone to factory settings, you will erase all of your data and settings. If you’re not confident that you’ll be able to get your iPhone back to its original state, you should consider a hardware repair or if it’s under warranty, make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar.

While the most common reason why your iPhone’s volume buttons stop working is due to a hardware issue, there are many other causes as well. For example, dust piles up over time and can cause the volume up button to stop working, or even if you have a case that covers your buttons, it could be blocking them and stopping them from functioning properly.

5. Side button

The iPhone 6 plus has several buttons on the outside of the phone. These are used for raising and lowering the volume of ringer, music, and other audio playback. There is also a speaker on the bottom of the phone that plays ringer and alert tones.

The Side button is used to put the iPhone to sleep/lock the screen, to wake it up, and to take screenshots. It’s also used to reset frozen iPhones.

You can turn off the Side button by holding down the side button and one of the volume buttons for a few seconds. This brings up a screen with a slider that lets you complete the process.

In some cases, you may have a broken Side button or it doesn’t work due to physical damage. In these situations, you can still power off your device using the iOS software settings.

Originally arriving with iOS 11, this feature can be very useful if you are unable to use a physical button or have mobility issues that make it difficult to press hard on buttons. It’s not something you’ll need to do frequently, but it’s an easy way to turn off your device if you need to.

Apple has included a setting in iOS 16 that allows you to disable this default behavior. To enable it, launch the Settings app and toggle on the switch next to Prevent Lock to End Call.
